You'll know voles by the shallow snake-like tunnels that you'll see all over your lawn.

The tunnels are about two inches wide and very near the surface so they can eat their favourite food, grass stems and blades.

Voles will destroy your lawn quickly, if you have a vole problem in Airdrie, Calgary, or the surrounding area contact The Pest Control Guy!

Voles are nuisance creatures; they spend most of their time hiding and searching for food, but before you know it they can cause major damage to your lawns (eat the roots of the grass and take the upper parts for nesting).

Letting rodents thrive around your house can be very risky as they search for a way into your home.

And are you looking forward to a nice looking lawn this summer?

Here are a few tips that will prevent them from damaging your property.

1. Don't store piles of wood, or any kind of debris along your house.

2. Keep the garbage container sealed and closed, thereby cutting off their main source of food.

3. Keep your grass no higher than 2 inches in the winter.

4. Keep the compost away from the house.
5. Keep things trimmed around the house.
6. Do not feed birds or leave any food on the ground.

7. Don't wait too long to deal with the issue. It can become a nightmare very fast!

Hey there, Antoine The Pest Control Guy here!
Let's talk Voles for a minute!
Voles are known more commonly to nest outdoors, so if you had a vole issue, they would most likely be nesting in the grass or underground in your backyard. They can do a lot of damage here by the burrowing they do in the ground which can ruin your lawn and do great damage to your plants. If you do not directly see a vole on your property, there are some other signs that you can look out for to indicate that you might have a vole problem. This includes runways on your lawn caused by the burrowing where the grass will be shorter, or if they have gotten to your plants, you may notice a pointed tip at the stem.
It is quite clear that no one wants to have voles on their properly because they can cause such great damage. They damage to your plants and grass can be extensive and can even prevent them from growing any further. This however is a smaller concern compared to the concerns that they raise for your health and safety. They are not known to be aggressive pests, however the various diseases that they carry put you at great risk. So they certainly aren't a pest that are safe to be in very close proximity to.
Give us a call today and we will help restore your peace of mind, and your home.
